Research Topics
Since his PhD, Tristan Bruslé has been interested in the mobility of Nepalese populations in relation to social and economic dynamics through the geography of practices and representations. Via his participation in several ANR-funded projects (TerrFerme, Terre-Eau, Nord-Est Indien), he has studied migrants’ local integration and daily life in India and in Qatar, and has focused on the connection between labour migration and the socio-economic context in Sunsari district. The study of the Nepalese diaspora in North-East India or via diaspora websites, has enabled him to write about the long-term settlement of Nepalese migrants abroad.
Since 2019, thanks to CNRS PICS funding, he has been studying the formation of small-size Nepalese towns in the context of administrative decentralisation initiated in 2015.
